Golf Course

Golf courses are the name for the playing field which golfers play golf on. On golf courses, there is usually on average, 18 holes in which a golfer has to ‘put the golf ball’ into. The final hole is signified by a flag. The playing field for golf can change, depending on the golfer’s skill and the area in which they are golfing. Usually, it is played on well kept grass fields, however, obstacles like bunkers (large sand pits), or lakes, rivers of even the ocean (i.e. if the ball fell in the ocean, it is replaced on the playing field nearest to where it fell in).

Golf Rules

Golf rules are very different compared to other ball sports. The winner of golf is the one who puts the golf ball into the final hole first. There are exceptions to the winner, though, as when one hits the ball, otherwise known as a stroke, their score increases (i.e. not a good increase, a golfer has to put the ball with the smallest amount of strokes possible, as the more strokes the golfer takes, the easier it is to put the ball). The lowest amount of points in total is known as match play, whereas the lowest number of strokes during play is known as stroke play.

Golf explained

Golf is one of many sports which include the use of a type of ball. In golf, one must place the ball on a tee (a T shaped: mount-like structure), swing the club at a particular angle, and then bring down the club with the appropriate amount of power. Once the club hits the ball, the ball will fly into the air, and will fall somewhere into the nearby scenery. The idea is to begin at a certain point of a golf course (the point is usually determined by the golfer’s skill) and to eventually get the ball to fall into the hole, which is outlined on the golf course by a flag.

Hunter Mahan

Rickie Fowler was beaten in the last few holes of the Phoenix Open by the eccentric and brilliance of Hunter Mahan . Mahan came back from four strokes to beat Fowler in the last few holes. Mahan claimed the win in the final by putting an eagle and a pair of birdies, which he won between holes 13 and 16, with a par of under 65. It is the fifth tournament of the year that the American has won. England’s best hope was Ian Poulter, who finished seven shots back off a seventy (who was also the winner of last week’s Accenture match. Runner up Fowler was at the young of age of 22 when he almost won a great tournament of golf.

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods, one of the most respected, most competent golfers has recently gone through media spotlight with the revelation of cheating on his Swedish wife, with various women. The golfer remained silent on the reports for many months, whilst his wife wished for a divorce and for some of Wood’s money. Woods finally came out into the open with his uttermost apologies to the world for the allegations of his affairs. He apologised to his ex-wife, his fans, mother, family and everyone close to him, in a very emotional speech. He didn’t rule out playing golf again, as some would hope Woods will regain his past honour as a great golfer and professional.
